Life's Messy: Top Scenarios that Ruin Clothes

Top Scenarios that Ruin Clothes including weather, children & crowds by Jos A Bank

Life is tough on clothes. And as we get older and our wardrobe becomes more refined, it seems our clothing becomes much more difficult to keep clean. We invest a fair amount in our apparel as gentlemen, so it is important to understand the situations and scenarios that could easily ruin our attire. Here are some common situations that put your clothing at increased risk of damage.

Extreme Weather

Mother Nature can wreak havoc on our clothing. From heavy rain to extreme temperatures and more, the weather can be harmful to our clothing if we aren't careful. Excessive rain and moisture is especially bad for wool, and continued exposure to sunlight will cause colors to fade over time. Luckily, there are some easy to remember DIY clothing hacks than can help you bring your damaged clothes back to life.

Children

Children are a joy, but they're also messy and unpredictable. Whether it's having something on their hands and rubbing it all over your new dress shirt, or launching an aerial assault of food, your ensemble is never safe when kids are nearby. If you know you are going to be in a potentially untidy situation, then study up on your stain removal tips to quickly remedy the situation and keep your clothing looking good as new.

Crowds

The more crowded a place is the more opportunities there are for people to knock themselves or something into you. It might be a beer at a concert, a hot dog at a ball game, or someone trampling on your new shoes on the dance floor. Be wary of donning your best to crowded places and events, as you and your clothes are at the mercy of those around you.

Vigorous Activity

Don't let James Bond deceive you. It's difficult to keep nice clothes clean while performing rigorous physical activity. Situations that call for heavy doses of running and jumping can lead to unsightly sweat, and also tears and other stains. If you know that you‘re going to be active, plan your wardrobe accordingly and save your blazer and dress slacks for later.

We're not saying that you should never take your clothes out of the closet, just that you should be aware of the situation you are walking into, and take the necessary precautions to preserve the lifespan of your wardrobe.
