Clothing Hacks: Cleverly Fix Apparel Problems

From something as minor as static on our favorite pair of pants, to something as serious as a red wine stain, we’ve all felt the panic: things aren't going according to plan.
Attire issues never seem to occur when we have the time to fix them. Instead, they always seem to crop up minutes before we need to be somewhere. Or worse, they surface while we’re out, forcing us to think on the fly. Here are a few creative clothing hacks every man should know.
A New Way to Clean Your Jeans: Over time, your washing machine will rinse away the dye in your denim, and the heat from your dryer will cause your jeans to shrink. In order to preserve the color and size of your jeans, soak them in a mixture of cold water and a cup of vinegar for about an hour. Once they have been adequately soaked, hang them up or lay them out to dry. If you’re set on using a washing machine, toss a cup of vinegar in with your jeans and avoid using traditional detergent.
Flash Frozen: If you don’t have enough time to soak your jeans and wait for them to dry before you head out, toss them in the freezer for an hour or so to eliminate unpleasant odors. Freezing kills some of the bacteria that are the cause of odor. While this is only a temporary fix, it’s a quick way to get your denim date-ready.
If you have leftover space next to your frozen food and jeans, your freezer is a great tool to use to keep your favorite sweater from shedding. Fold and seal the garment in a Ziplock bag and leave it in the freezer for at least three hours. This won’t permanently prevent the sweater from shedding, but it should keep the fur intact for the duration of your event.
Nobody Likes a Clinger: Static cling is a nuisance and trying to hang your clothes properly while they’re buzzing with static is even more annoying. If you’re out of dryer sheets or you don’t like the residue they leave on your clothes, toss a small, tightly rolled ball of aluminum foil into the dryer with your wet laundry. Your clothes will come out warm and static-free.
Loosen Up Your Leather: Most people tend to think that the last thing they should do with their new leather jacket is get it wet. Au contraire! Getting caught in a light rain will actually soften the leather and allow it to crease and stretch to adhere to the specific contours of your body, creating a naturally tailored fit.
Keep these simple tricks in mind to extend the longevity of your wardrobe.
