Holiday Gift Giving Guide

A famous quote commonly attributed to Winston Churchill poignantly states that "we make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."
It is around this time of year that we most actively consider what we should give our loved ones. This is almost always accompanied by the rapid-onset panic that occurs when we realize we haven’t bought a single gift yet and the holidays are rapidly approaching.
Don’t worry, we’re here to help.
You know your family and friends better than we do. We’re just here to point you in the right direction.
Whether you steer clear of the masses and opt to take your shopping online, or throw on your coat and head for the department stores, make sure you give them a gift they’ll love this year.
Mom
It’s a fact that gift giving gets harder as you get older. For years you’ve given your mother bracelets and necklaces, and this year you’re running low on ideas.
Consider taking the sentimental route. Collect old photos of her family and compile the pictures that were taken when you were younger and organize them into a scrapbook for a heart-felt gift she will cherish for years to come.
Dad
Every year for poor dad it’s another tie, or maybe a small addition to the tool box.
Help keep your old man stylish this year by picking him up a sweater or two. Add some color to his wardrobe or grab a cardigan to keep his wardrobe up to date.
Sibling(s)
Whether they were your constant tormentor, your best friend, or both, find something you and your sibling, or siblings, can do together this holiday season. As we get older we start to form families of our own and slowly but surely we spend less time with those who we grew up with. The holidays are a great time to reunite, and make more memories. Tickets to a show, a sporting event, or even a fun dinner are all great options. If you’re an only child, use that extra money and buy yourself a new fashion accessory like a leather belt.
Wife/fiancée/girlfriend
How long you’ve been together is something to consider when purchasing a gift for that special someone in your life. If the relationship is relatively new, a nice piece of jewelry accompanied by dinner is always a safe bet.
If you’ve been together a while, maybe it’s time to take a trip together, or that old car is in need of replacement. If there are kids in the equation, nothing will bring a smile to their face quite like a day or two at the spa.
Feel that? That’s the stress being taken out of your holiday shopping. Now kick back by the fire and get to work on those New Year’s style resolutions.
