New Year’s Style Resolutions

Men's styles, new years eve outfits 2016, colors to wear for new years by Jos A Bank

As 2014 comes to a close, take some time to reflect. We're always looking for ways to improve ourselves and are eager to make this year better than the one prior. So to help, here are some simple style changes you can make to pave the way to a successful 2015.

Look the Part

No matter what your goals are for 2015, remember "perception is reality." Yes, merit is important, but before people have a chance to dig into your qualifications, they will make a determination about you based on how you’re dressed. Whether you are looking to score that new job, or win the approval of your significant other’s parents, a crisp shirt and a nice pair of pants will have you properly dressed for the occasion.

Broaden Your Horizons

Step out of your comfort zone and experiment with different styles. If you’ve always been a neutral color person, take a chance on some brighter items. If all of your clothes are solid-colored, look for some patterns.

Or, if you don’t want to steer your style in an entirely new direction, try out some accessories like scarves, cufflinks, or different versions of what you usually wear, perhaps substituting a bowtie for a neck tie.

Solidify Your Style

Pay less attention to what is popular and focus more on what is comfortable to you. Unless you have to abide by a particular dress-code, confidently wear what makes you feel good, even if you aren’t always revered as fashion-forward. Though many of us take cues from well-known fashion icons, remember to inject your own personality into your style.

Be a Trendsetter

If you want to be bold next year, consider trying to start your own fashion trend, either at work or within your social group. We aren’t recommending that you rebel against a dress-code, however, if you have the leeway to do so, try your hand at starting a trend and see if it catches on.

We aren’t saying that your fashion sense was poor in 2014. We are simply trying to do what we all strive for as we close another chapter: make the next one even better!
