Spring Fashion for Men

We're nearly there: mere weeks away from escaping the clutches of an unpredictable and icy winter, and headed for the months of warmer weather and longer days.
As we round the corner into spring-time, we gentlemen need to make sure our wardrobes are as ready for the seasonal change as we are. We can't ditch our suits entirely, but we can modify them just enough to usher in those April showers and May flowers.
Don't worry, you still have a couple of weeks to prepare, and this handy guide will set you on the right track.
Be Bold...But Professional
As the trees begin to bloom and the landscape takes on more color, so too should your ensemble. Experiment with lighter shades of your favorite colors, and pair them with complementary hues for a great way to express yourself this spring. Variations of pink, green, and blue are classic summer colors that can be worn from head to toe. Just be careful that your colorful clothing doesn't diminish your level of professionalism.
What to Wear: See how you feel in a light blue slim fit dress shirt paired with black pants. If you're feeling particularly bright, try a teal or salmon colored top.
Focus on Lightweight Fabrics
You can ditch the down jackets and the leather gloves, but regardless of the temperature we are expected to be appropriately dressed no matter where we go. As it begins to get a bit warmer, trade in your heavier fabrics, like wool and denim, for lighter, more breathable materials, like silks and cottons, to keep you cool and stylish this spring.
What to Wear: Try a slim-fit cotton suit with a button-down shirt underneath. The color is up to you, though we would recommend light gray or blue. For a more casual look, leave the top button open. If you are after a slightly more sophisticated look, or your destination has a required dress code, add your favorite colorful necktie or a bowtie to complete your ensemble.
Learn Sophisticated Layering
It's not quite warm enough to break out the tank tops, but since you've packed away your warmest clothes, layer your clothing to create sophisticated outfits and stay warm. Add a vest and a tie to your ensemble, or layer a cotton sweater or sport coat on top of a collared shirt for those chillier early-spring days.
When those legendary April showers do begin, top off your look with a contemporary rain jacket to stay stylish and dry.

Spring hasn't sprung quite yet, but make sure you and your closet are ready when it does!
