Rid Your Clothes of Wrinkles

We all know the feeling, and it's one we aren't fond of. You're getting ready to head out and you've planned the perfect outfit. Your pants fit perfectly and the color of your tie perfectly complements your shirt. But then, as you grab said shirt and prepare to put it on, you notice that it's wrinkled. A quick glance at your watch reveals that you don't have time to fetch the iron and ironing board.
You could choose a different shirt, but this one completes your outfit. Changing would also require a new tie and new pants - an even more time-consuming task.
You can't keep your hosts waiting, but you can't show up looking unkempt. What to do?
As they say, necessity is the mother of invention. With a few household items, you can quickly rid your clothes of wrinkles and be out the door in a flash.
The Dryer
This technique will have you out the door in about 5 minutes. All you have to do is lightly spray your wrinkled dress shirt with a water bottle and toss it in the dryer. However, if you don't want to spray your clothes directly, throwing them in the dryer with a wet towel will also eliminate the wrinkles. Damp socks, washcloths, and dryer sheets are also effective.
The Shower
Why not kill two birds with one stone? While you're taking a shower, hang your clothes nearby with the bathroom door closed and allow the heat and moisture in the air to work its magic. Just be careful not to get your clothes wet.
The Hair Dryer
This method works best with a plastic focusing tip. Hang your wrinkled suit on a hanger and hold the blow dryer about an inch or two away on a low setting. Be careful not to burn the item. While this method works best for cotton clothing it's a reliable method for all fabrics.
The Spray Bottle
This method requires a bit more action on your part. Spritz a small amount of water on your wrinkled clothing and either slap, stretch, or shake the wrinkles out. Be careful not to oversaturate with water. Replacing wrinkles with wet spots won't get you out the door any faster.
The Kettle
No matter how hectic a morning may be, it's rare that we forget our coffee. If you have a kettle it can double as a wrinkle removal tool and only requires the amount of time it takes you to prepare your daily caffeine fix. Hold your clothes about 8-12 inches above the steam and lightly tug to remove the wrinkles. Make sure to keep your skin away from the hot steam.
While an iron is your best bet for keeping your clothes well-pressed, if you find yourself in a pinch, follow these simple and quick solutions to ensure you look your best. Although, if your closet contains items from any of our wrinkle-free collections such as the Traveler Dress Shirts Collection, you could spare yourself the hassle of ironing altogether.
