Quick Change: Changing in the Nick of Time

As mild-mannered Clark Kent strolls down the busy streets clad in a suit, tie, and iconic wide-framed glasses, it seems like just another day in Metropolis. His alter-ego, the world-renown "Superman," is hidden beneath a non-descript appearance. The unmistakable red underwear and blue tights don't surface until someone is in dire need of saving. It's then that the Man of Steel springs into action, darting into the nearest phone booth as a common man, and emerging a superhero.

The universe is eternally thankful for his protection. But what we really want to know is: how does he manage to change so quickly in that phone booth?

There is an art to perfecting the act of rapidly changing in a tightly enclosed space, what has become known as the "Superman change." Remember that time you were tangled in a small enclosed space, running out of time before the event started, trying desperately to get your leg in those pants without falling over? Fret no more, we can help make your next quick-change as efficient as possible so you can get on to saving the world... or to your daughter's ballet recital.

Organization is key.

It's rare that we "plan" on running a little bit late, though we try and live by the "expect the unexpected" mantra. However, the more organized your garments are, the easier it will be to change quickly. A few coat hangers will make your clothes easily accessible, allow them to be "packed" up easier, and keep the wrinkles away.

Order of operations.

Any other time, the order in which you put your clothes on is of no consequence. When you're in the comfort of your own home, you have the luxury of putting on your shirt and tying your tie before you slip on your pants and shoes. But, when you're cramped in your car in a crowded parking lot or forced to use a gas station bathroom, you have to be more strategic about how you get dressed.

Get your pants and shoes on first, that way you aren't standing on a dirty floor or flashing those who happen to pass by your vehicle. From there move on to your shirt, and once it's properly tucked in, finish your ensemble with a belt.

Don't give up on finding more space.

The Superman Change should be your last resort. However, if you're desperate, do your best to find a place that gives you the most room to change. Unfortunately, sometimes options are severely limited and you have to do the best with what you've got. If you can, give yourself as much wiggle room as possible, especially if you are a larger-than-average gentleman.

You might also need to work on your flexibility to be able to execute a flawless Superman change. Up, up, and away!
