Last-Minute Father's Day Gifts

Last-Minute Father's Day Gifts by Jos A Bank

Our fathers are our first teachers and mentors, occasionally even our first coaches. They can be a disciplinarian and a guiding voice. They are the ones who taught us about how to treat women, the right way to be a man, and how to graciously accept ties every year for every holiday.

The unfortunate truth is that as we get older we get busy with work, starting our own families, and trying to chart the best course for our own lives. Next thing we know, we look up at the calendar and it's the middle of June — Father's Day is right around the corner and we still haven't gotten our old man a gift.

While it's probably too late to throw together the surprise party you wanted to plan, there are still a few great gift options that dad will be sure to love.

Tee Time

If your father has been known to hit the links, head to the closest course and pick up a pass for him for 9 or 18 holes. If you want to spend some quality father-son time, grab a pass for yourself too and treat dad to a day on the course. Throw in a golf shirt to sweeten the deal!

Concert Tickets

Do some research to find out who some of his favorite artists are and see if they are still touring. If so, and they are coming to a venue close by, grab a few tickets and give your father the chance to experience his favorite musician live.

Sporting Event

If your father is a sports fan, then he is sure to love a trip to see his favorite team in action. Whether it's America's pastime on a warm summer day, or a raucous basketball arena in the fall, treat dad to an unforgettable sporting experience.

Drink It In

Finding a "useful" gift for a man who has been around for decades can be tough. He's already got enough tools, socks, and pens to last a lifetime. Instead, search for a nice bottle or bottles of his favorite spirit. If he's a wine guy, try and find out what year was his favorite. Or maybe he's into a nice aged bourbon, or craft beer.

Dress Up

Everyone's wardrobe can use periodic updates, so keep your dad in style with a new sportcoat, or dress shirt. If you aren't sure what size he wears, or if the style of the shirt is something he would like, look into some stylish accessories, such as cufflinks or a tie bar that he can add to any ensemble.

Just because time is running out doesn't mean you can't find the perfect gift for dad!
