There is a price to be paid for being "portly." Note: I am not morbidly obese -- 250 lbs, 6'1". Sadly, the world of design has gravitated towards a view that "portly" = "morbidly obese" and the actual M.O. people don't exist except as curiosities. Thus, when a suit is fabricated to fit every size with a waist above 32 using stretch apparatus and clever buttons -- well, you know you're portly, and the design community holds your body-type in low regard. You have officially become one of the many. I suppose it is the price we pay. That said, the suit is fine. It will be good for the weddings, funerals, and business presentations that I will do. It also provides motivation to me to continue in my pursuit of being less than portly.
