About Me No Nonsense
Comments about Jos. A. Bank Merino Wool Over-The-Calf Socks:
Bought several pairs of this wool blend as gifts, for regular use. So far, so good. They do shrink a bit oddly in the dryer, even at a lower setting; hopefully, that won't matter. My son has given a thumbs up for fit and warmth...the wool does a good job of wicking moisture. I do wonder how long a wool sock should be expected to last. Nice looking dress socks...and OTC is what my guys like.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Best Men's Wool OTC Socks Around

About Me Bargain Shopper, Career, High End
Very nicely made; I've worn wool dress socks for 30+ years, including those from all sorts of high-end stores and brands, and Jos. A. Bank's are the most consistently top-quality and reasonably priced that I've found. I'm tough on my socks, and so I appreciate that they wear well over time. Impressive that they're still made in Italy and yet are reasonably priced.
Just right dress socks

About Me Bargain Shopper
Not too thin or thick, wear well, maintain their shape and elasticity.
I first noticed there was no pull down to pick the sock size. I placed one order to see how they fit. The socks were labled Size 10-13. They fit perfectly. I made another order shortly after the first. The second order socks were labled Size 8-12. They fit, but did not reach completely over the calf. The order page needs to fix the missing size option.BC
I would purchase this item again.

About Me Bargain Shopper, Career
The only dress sock I wear. I have very athletic calves and anything less that OTC will not stay up. I wear the wool year round. Feet don't sweat in them and there is no odor. One minor complaint is that every now and then, I will get a pair that run a bit large. I wear a size 9 shoe and sometimes the socks will be a little long and tend to bunch up. They are a bit pricey at regular price so I stock up when they are on sale.

These socks feel great on the feet, are absorbent and keep the feet warm in winter. They don't slide down either like other less expensive brands.

True OTC socks which doesn't slip down. Smooth, warm and thin. Would highly recommend. Only negative is that they are a bit too big on my feet, I'm size 8 in shoes.

Never worn over the calf socks before, but for the colder months, these are great. They're very comfortable, they stay up, and they look good.Hard to get excited about socks, but I love these.
Great Socks -- Too Long
from southeastern Idaho
About Me Athletic, Bargain Shopper, Career, Casual
Bought these socks as Christmas presents for my son and my son-in-law. The colors are great as is the merino wool material. However, my son, my daughter and son-in-law do not like the over-the-calf length; who knew? So, I have inquired about exchanging them for mid-calf length: same color and same material.
Merino Wool Over-The-Calf Socks
from Bellevue, Washington
About Me Career, High End
Jos. A. Banks Over-the-Calf Merino wool socks are moisture wicking at the same time as being warm and toasty. I prefer over the calf socks in winter for their warmth, and also most dress slacks are lined only to the knee. This gives you an extra layer of protection from chafing as well as greater warmth. Wool is very resistant to wear and pilling, unlike cotton/polyester blends. Cotton/poly is the worst pilling fabrics I've ever experienced, and though some people don't like what they assume is the scratchiness of wool, these socks are a very fine weave or knit, and exhibit no scratchiness whatsoever...at least on my skin. Cashmere might be a bit softer, but doesn't wear nearly as well. The specific blend is 67% wool, a polyfiliment, 32% nylon, a monofilament, and 1% Lycra (Spandex). The nylon not only adds warmth, but integrity and durability, also helping to maintain shape. The Lycra adds stretch, and keeps your socks up where they belong without any garters...out of fashion since the 1920s. There's a reason women wear nylons...they are warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather...the only fabric to offer these specific characteristics to my knowledge. I'd rate these socks 10 out of 10 for good looks, warmth, durability and comfort. What more can you ask of the simple sock? Oh...and the price was terrific.
Socks are very thin and too big. received 4 pairs of black instead of 2 blue and 2 black along with 3 other pairsll

These are very long and fit big in the foot as well. Unless you are pretty tall and have a large foot these may not work for you

Wear them.I was looking for over-the-calf black socks. I had bought them for years from another, because they provided quality at a good price. However, I foundthat now their socks are just cheap. I had bought a couple of pairs from you, but they were a bit pricey although great socks. Therefore I jumped at the chance to buy them on sale.
JosABank never fails to satisfy
from LaGrange, GA
Over the years, I have purchased dozens of pairs of socks from JosABank, always over-the-calf Merino wool. Their technology makes buying their products as easy as I could imagine, and their products are fantastic for both quality and price.

I've rarely worn true over the calf socks and the first day it took some getting used to, but during colder bicycle commutes, I appreciate the extra protection and it's still comfortable enough during the day as well.

In the past, I've always had problems with socks. They either slipped down around my ankles and/or clinged to my wool trouser legs so that the pant legs won't come back down when I stand up. So I went on a quest to find the perfect sock. I bought three pair of these over-the-calf merino wool socks at the Jos A. Bank store at the local mall, and they were perfect. No slippage. No cling. They look great are thick enough that your skin doesn't show threw them like some other socks I've owned. And did I mention they're machine-washable? I liked the three pair I bought at the mall so much that I ordered several more pairs online. Couldn't be happier. My quest for the perfect sock is no over. Cheers!
